What worked well?
The location of the Creative Sheffield exhibition is at the UTC Sheffield in the creative exchange. The audience of the exhibition were students, perspective students, teachers, employers and stake holders of the UTC Sheffield. Overall I believe that the focus was clear as we quickly established the theme of the Creative Sheffield, we did this by using a clear title at the beginning of the exhibition. The visual coherence and curation worked well as the presentation on the screen was clear and the slideshow was clear, however it could be improved by having written explanations for the chosen photographs in the form of hand-outs/leaflets.
The process:
Firstly we took various photographs of Sheffield with an intention to show them at the exhibition in the theme of Creative Sheffield, after the photographs were taken, we had too many so we filtered them out in Adobe Bridge. At the end of this we had around 20 photographs and we carefully curated 10 images that we thought represented Sheffield in a creative way, for example, if an image had an interesting or iconic building we would use it. The images were then imported into Adobe Photoshop where we manipulated some of them to fit the exhibition better, some images were heavily edited whilst others received minor tweaks such as a change of contrast or brightness.
A powerpoint was then made which included all of the final images and we added creative transitions and calm music to make the viewer more interested in it. Planning was then completed which gave us a set date and room in which we would present our exhibition in. Once the day arrived we presented the exhibition in the planned room and gathered feedback on how we could improve it.
Fitness for purpose:
The exhibition of Creative Sheffield that took place in Sheffield June 23-29th showcased creativity in Sheffield, this was very much fit for purpose as the theme was 'Creative Sheffield'. The different images of the iconic landmarks and interesting situations in Sheffield portrayed a meaningful message that Sheffield is growing as a leading city in terms of ingenuity and vision. The combination of subtle music and an aesthetically pleasing slideshow made the target audience feel involved and interested. The different images took the viewer along a journey of Sheffield, starting from an intense view of the Cultural Industries Quarter and then the UTC Sheffield all the way through to the unique architecture of the city. This depicted how creatively diverse the city is.
Strengths and weaknesses:
Overall the exhibition was a success.
The main strengths were the ability that our team had to work as a team and communicate with each other in order to complete the tasks and individually assign roles which were completed with near no trouble. In the exhibition the music created a sense of solidarity and provoked the thoughts of the audience, this was very positive. However a few feedback sheets reported that the music didn't fit the exhibition too well, but this was outweighed by the positive responses. The content show was good and this was confirmed by the feedback we gained after the exhibition. The main weakness was the lack of effort from Harry, a member of our group who was unable to cope with the work he assigned himself, luckily Junaid, the other member of the team took over his roles and completed them well.
What was my part?
In our group there was 3 of us, Ahmed (me), Harry and Junaid. I was the main curator and I was assisted by Junaid, we all presented the event. Harry created the power point for our group.
All the feedback our group received from other groups are very similar. Other groups have said each person had a clear role when presenting, the concept of our exhibition was good and clear to the audience and the focus was also clear.
we be improving our exhibition for the 27th June by adding music and creating a leaflet that gives an explanation for the photographs in the exhibition because after receiving feedback we realised these improvements are necessary in making the exhibition more entertaining.
Did the exhibition/event run to plan?
The exhibition was planned over 4 weeks, this was enough time for us to prepare the venue and ensure that the exhibition ran smoothly. Overall the exhibition was a success.
What did the feedback say?
The feedback we received was constructive and mostly positive. The main issue we need address is adding music, the right music will make the exhibition more entertaining and captivating.

Floor plan
The room is open and is easy to access. There aren't many wires going in or out of the room so it is very safe. The room is located on the first floor of the college and as you walk through the entrance into the Creative Exchange, you can easily see the room, so it will be rare for someone to get lost.
